A Message from the Ranch Manager

As the Ranch Manager at Changing Lives Through Horses, I'm thrilled to share with you the incredible progress and growth of our Seniors Program. Over the past few years, we've had the privilege of working with seniors from our community, and the transformations we've witnessed have been truly life-changing.

A Program of Connection and Growth

Our Seniors Program is designed to promote overall well-being, build connections, and foster a sense of community among older adults. Through guided interactions with horses, seniors can improve their physical, emotional, and cognitive health. Our program is tailored to meet the unique needs of each participant, and we've seen remarkable successes.

Past Successes: Stories of Transformation

- Margaret's Journey: Margaret, a senior participant, struggled with loneliness and isolation after losing her spouse. Through our program, she formed a special bond with a horse named Spirit, who helped her find joy and purpose again. "I looked forward to Wednesdays, it was the highlight of my week," she shared. "The horses and the team here made me feel seen and loved."

- John's Progress: John, another participant, dealt with chronic pain and limited mobility. With the support of our team and the horses, he regained strength and confidence, eventually returning to his favorite hobby – gardening.

- Group Dynamics: Our seniors have formed lasting friendships, supporting one another through life's challenges. We've seen laughter, tears, and countless moments of connection.

Growth and Development

Our Seniors Program has evolved significantly over the years, thanks to feedback from participants and our dedicated team. We've:

- Expanded our program to include more sessions and activities

- Introduced new equine-assisted therapies, such as horse whispering and nature-based interventions

- Developed partnerships with local organizations to reach more seniors

- Trained our team in dementia care and support

Current Offerings and Testimonials

Our current program includes:

- Weekly equine-assisted sessions

- Horse care and maintenance tasks

- Nature walks and outdoor activities

- Socialization and group activities

- Opportunities for reflection and journaling

"I've seen incredible growth in our seniors," says Lee, our Program Coordinator. "They've gained confidence, formed meaningful relationships, and found joy in the simple things – like watching horses graze."

What's Next?

We're excited to continue growing and evolving our Seniors Program. Upcoming plans include:

- Expanding our outreach to local senior centers and retirement communities

- Developing a mentorship program for seniors to support one another

- Hosting community events and workshops on equine-assisted learning
